At least 19 people were shot over the Labor Day weekend, from Saturday to Monday afternoon, according to police.
Two men were killed, including a 54-year-old man who was stabbed to death inside a house on the 700 block of N. 38th Street in Mantua.
Investigators said he was attacked by a woman he knew and stabbed once in the upper torso just before 7 a.m. Saturday. She was apprehended, and officers at the scene recovered a weapon.
Just before 11 a.m. Saturday, a 19-year-old man was shot two times in the back on the 3500 block of Emerald Street in Harrogate, police said.
He died less than two hours later at Temple University Hospital. No arrests have been made.
Three people were hit when gunfire rang out at around 11:40 a.m. Monday on the 2400 block of N. 23rd Street in North Philadelphia, authorities said.
A 33-year-old man was shot in the chest, elbow and ribs, and he was listed in critical condition at Temple Hospital.
Police said a 31-year-old man was struck in the wrist and a 29-year-old woman was grazed in the left thigh. Both were being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.
In West Philadelphia, an 18-year-old woman called an Uber and arrived at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after she was shot once in the right arm at around 1:30 a.m. Monday on the 600 block of S. Conestoga Street, police said. She is in stable condition.
On Sunday, just after 8:30 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the buttocks inside a house on the 1600 block of Mohican Street in West Oak Lane. Authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening.
In Olney, a woman set fire to a house just before 5 p.m. Sunday on the 100 block of Roselyn Street and repeatedly stabbed an 84-year-old man who tried to escape, investigators said.
Officers rushed him to the hospital, where he was being treated for serious injuries but is expected to survive.
The woman was arrested. Police said she knew the victim, but they did not provide further details.
A 25-year-old woman was shot just after 2 a.m. Sunday inside a property on the 2700 block of Peach Terrace, at the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s Bartram Village development in Southwest Philadelphia.
She was transported to the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center with a gunshot wound to her left leg and is in stable condition, authorities said.
About an hour earlier, three people were wounded in a shooting on the 5200 block of Woodland Avenue in Kingsessing, investigators said.
A 28-year-old man suffered two gunshot wounds to his left thigh and two to his left foot. A 21-year-old man was hit once in the left elbow, and a 19-year-old man was struck in the right foot.
All three men were later listed in stable condition, according to police.
On Saturday, just before midnight, a 34-year-old man was shot in the left foot on the 2100 block of S. 67th Street in Southwest Philadelphia, authorities said. His injuries were not life-threatening.
A man, described only as in his mid-20s, was rushed to the hospital just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday after he was shot in the abdomen on the 1900 block of N. 27th Street in North Philadelphia.
Police said he was listed in critical condition at Temple Hospital.
About 15 minutes earlier, a shooting on the 1600 block of S. 54th Street in Kingsessing sent a 22-year-old man to the hospital with wounds to his groin and buttocks. He is in critical condition, authorities said.
In Kensington, a 17-year-old boy was shot twice in the right arm just before 11 p.m. Saturday on the 600 block of E. Clearfield Street. He showed up to Temple Hospital and was listed in stable condition, police said.
Five others were hospitalized in separate shootings earlier Saturday.
