2017 Ladybug Festival: Performances you can’t miss

Put on your best red and black outfit for the Ladybug Festival on Thursday and Friday! The free festival is dedicated to celebrating local women in music and bringing another music event to the area in addition to the popular Firefly Festival. Individual concerts will be happening at several locations surrounding 2nd and Loma streets in Wilmington. Here are 13 performances you can’t miss.

Philly girl rock
Philly’s rock scene will represent on both days of the festival. You can hear Victoria Watts’s upbeat and soulful rock set on Thursday after dancing to Hello June’s set. Funky AlyCat will keep the festival going with tunes like “Girly Cat World”. And catch June Divided on Friday night for a sound that will make you think of grown-up and sophisticated Paramore.

Friday jazz
Two lovely crooners Catch Maya Belardo’s velvety voice will make you think of musical times past on Friday. Nadjah Nicole brings her modern R&B style to the stage on Friday.

Local pop princesses
If you want to let loose and dance, these lady performers will bring that to the stage during their Friday performances. Check out electro performer I Am Snow Angel for Lana Del Rey meets Robyn vibes. Trio Hotsy Totsy rock a more vintage sound with fun harmonies and catchy lyrics.

You wouldn’t see this at Firefly
Mean Wendy Band brings musical comedy with tracks like “Friend Request” and “Intern Crush” that melodically quip about relatable experiences. Vocal Clave de Sol are sure to make the most out of their performance and bring some Cuban flair. And New Jersey duo Nalani & Serena combine pop, soul and funk with gorgeous vocals and bright instrumentals.

Just dance
The festival features two special dance performances are part of the festival lineup. Catch Dance 4 Life from the from the School of Arts Delaware and dancers from the Christina Cultural Arts Center on Friday evening.
