Police are seeking to identify a speeding driver who ran over and killed a small boy on Monday evening before fleeing the scene.

Police have released surveillance footage of the black Ford Echo believed to have been responsible for the crash around 6:30 p.m. in Kingsessing near 57th Street and Florence Avenue.

The office of Mayor Michael Nutter has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the driver’s arrest.

The victim, a 4-year-old, darted out into the street around 6:30 p.m. Monday and was hit by the car. The car then ran over the boy while he was lying in the street, police said.

The child was transported to Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania and pronounced dead at 7:06 p.m.

“The striking vehicle is believed to be a 2011 to 2014 Ford Edge SUV, operated by an unknown black female,” police said. “The striking vehicle may have front end damage to the lower left side.”
