$25K reward in armored-car heist in Norristown

A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for robbing a Brinks Armored vehicle outside a Bank of America branch in Norristown.

Three unidentified men drove up to the truck in a Chrysler Town and Country minivan that had been stolen from a Cottman Avenue convenience store parking lot sometime before 2 p.m. on Feb. 2. One of the men struck a guard in the head with the butt of an assault rifle, knocking him to the ground and taking the money he was carrying.

The men — described as black or Hispanic, wearing masks, dark jackets, jeans and gloves — switched to an early 2000s model-year Nissan Pathfinder, black or dark blue in color, and fled. Deeming the robbers armed and dangerous, authorities asked anyone with information to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or Norristown Police at 610-270-0977.
