3 Things to watch: Jets vs. Eagles

1. Who’s got the inside track behind Kolb?

Michael Vick will play the entire first half, according to coach Andy Reid. Is his backup role in jeopardy?

No, but it’s worth posing the question. After a semi-impressive preseason opener, Vick has done little to inspire confidence, connecting on 13 of 23 passes while throwing three interceptions and fumbling twice. Meanwhile, rookie Mike Kafka rallied the reserves on an eight-play, 80-yard drive to beat the Chiefs, 20-17.

2. Second opinion: Roster spots on the line.

With cuts Saturday, there is plenty to watch in the defensive backfield.

Macho Harris was moved to safety this week, meaning rookie Trevard Lindley has all but secured the fifth cornerback spot. That means Harris is battling Quintin Demps and rookie Kurt Coleman for one of the nine final spots in the secondary — unless the Eagles decide to keep 10 guys. Remember, the coaching staff relies on Demps as a kick returner.

3. Birds ready for their close-up?

Jets coach Rex Ryan, the outspoken son of former Eagles coach Buddy Ryan, brings HBO’s “Hard Knocks” to the Linc tonight.

While footage from the game won’t air until Wednesday’s episode, it never gets old trying to read Ryan’s lips and body language on the sideline. It will make a seemingly uninteresting game a little fun, especially if you invent a drinking game to go along with it.
