Domestic free agents just weren’t that interested.

So after missing out on Rajon Rondo, Jamal Crawford and a bevy of other NBA free agents, the Sixersdecided to take a chance on a European star, reported by The Vertical. The deal is reportedly for $8 million and one season.

Sergio Rodriguez averaged10.9 points and6.2 assists per game while posting a solid40.9 shooting percentage from three. He played parts of four seasons in the NBA with the Blazers, Knicks and Kings, never averaging more than 19 minutes or seven points per game.

Rodriguez could be a key role player for the Sixers, as the talented shooter won Euroleague MVP two seasons agoaveraging 14 points, 4.9 assists and two rebounds over 31 games, despite not starting in any game. He led his team to a Euroleague title in 2014-15.

Rodriguez is a staple on the Spanish national team and was scouted with first-round talent when he was selected by the Suns at No. 27-overall in 2006.
