A guide to the Festival of Families

From religious events to music and stand-up comedy, this weekend promises something for everyone, with much of it free and open to the public, although secure ticketed areas will be in effect.

Read on for the full schedule of events this weekend.

While Pope Francis travels throughout Philadelphia, the Francis Festival will be held along the Ben Franklin Parkway and at Independence Mall from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

There will be food vendors and the festival grounds will be open to the public.

On Saturday, the Festival of Families will be held with a series of musical and dance performances for guests.

Logan Square Stage, Saturday, Sept. 26, beginning at 12:45 p.m.:

Eakins Oval Stage: Saturday, September 26, beginning at 5:27 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m., Pope Francis is scheduled to participate in a public parade from Eakins Oval, up the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, around City Hall and back down the Parkway to Eakins Oval.

Then more performances will be held, with superstar actor Mark Wahlberg serving as master of ceremonies and performances scheduled by Matt Maher, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Juanes, Andrea Bocelli, Marie Miller, the Fray and soul singer Aretha Franklin.
