AIDS supporters demand action

CITY HALL – After two years of urging the City to find more housing funding for those with HIV and AIDS — particularly the afflicted homeless — ACT UP Philadelphia activists met with Mayor Michael Nutter Monday. They didn’t like what they heard, though.

Nutter said the city doesn’t have cash to spare, and that more federal funds are needed in dicey financial times.

A few dozen ACT UP supporters traced chalk outlines of bodies outside of City Hall yesterday to “remind the mayor of the 8,000 HIV-positive Philadelphians with unmet housing needs.”
