Amtrak and SEPTA service canceled after person struck on tracks

Rail service on several train lines through Delaware County has been temporarily canceled after a trespasser was struck on the tracks.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on Friday, an Amtrak Northeast Corridor train headed to Washington struck the person near the Chester Transportation Center Station, NBC10 has reported.

There has been no word on the person’s condition, 6ABC stated, adding that SEPTA service from Wilmington was canceled for three scheduled trains.

Amtrak has also halted trains as authorities investigated the scene, affecting its Northeast Corridor service, NBC10 stated.

No one on board the train that hit the person was injured, according to NBC10. There has not yet been word on when train schedules will return to normal.
