Police are still searching for suspects in the South Philadelphia brawl that left four people, including a 2-year-old girl, wounded Tuesday evening.
The shooting happened on the 1200 block of South Bucknell Street, which stemmed from an argument earlier this summer between girls at South Philly High, police said.
The argument culminated when a group of girls and a parent went to the house of one girl involved in the earlier fight, knocked on the door and forced their way in. After the girl’s grandparents reportedly pushed the intruders outside, the fight escalated. Capt. Laurence Nodiff described it as “one large brawl outside.”
Sticks and golf clubs were used as weapons, Nodiff said, then shots were fired into the crowd and four people were wounded. Authorities have no specifics on what the argument was about or the intent of the parent who was present.
“We believe two different males discharged firearms,” said Nodiff. The shooters are described as two black males between ages 20 to 30.
“There are some cameras in the area and we are looking to obtain footage,” Nodiff said.
All victims have been released, except for the 2-year-old girl who is in critical but stable condition.
