Blaze battled at Legion building in Philly

Crews worked to put out a massive blaze at a Philadelphia American Legion hall Monday night, which at its peak had been raised to the level of a four-alarm fire.

Multiple media outlets reported on the fire, sharing video of flames and a thick column of black smoke shooting out of the roof of the building, thePhiladelphia American Legion Post 396 on Orthodox Street.

It came as community members were sitting down for a Memorial Day dinner, reports A witness told the site that diners evacuated the building when smoke was spotted coming out of a dumb waiter.

The fire was upgraded after it was declared two-alarm fire at 3 p.m.,according to CBS.

There have not been any injuries reported.

An extended livestreamfrom a witness named Joe Szott captured the action over nearly a half hour.
