Blogging Teacher Will Have Plenty of Down Time

Natalie Munroe, the Central Bucks East High School English teacher who called her students “rude, disengaged, lazy whiners” on a blog, may not have many students to teach this year after more than 200 parents asked that their children not be in her class.

Many of the 212 requests came before students actually got their schedule, the Doylestown Intelligencer reported. Sixty-two of the complaints were from parents whose children are scheduled to be in Monroe’s three classes.

Officials said they expect more complaints and that a substitute teacher will likely take over Munroe’s classes.

“I know we have to protect kids. I know we have to protect the environment,” Superintendent N. Robert Laws told the Intelligencer. “We have to have a healthy teaching environment.”

Munroe was suspended in February after officials were notified of the blog, but she was re-instated this month.
