Bruins 3, Flyers 0
1
2 Thomas keeps stating his case — Last year, Boston goalie Tim Thomas watched the Bruins’ epic playoff collapse helplessly from the bench, as rookie sensation Tuukka Rask took the fall. Now, after being shopped around in the offseason, he’s re-claimed the job and has been sensational. The 36-year-old Thomas came into this one 11-2-1 with a 1.56 goals-against average, and proceeded to lower that with 41 saves against the Flyers — many of them spectacular, including a penalty-shot stop on Scott Hartnell.
3 Somebody turn the power back on — The Flyers continue to struggle mightily on the power play, going 0-for-4 last night. In their last eight contests, the Orange & Black are now a sorry 2-for-37, or 5.4 percent, with the man-advantage. In the 11 games they’ve failed to win this year — seven coming in regulation — they’re even worse, going 2-for-45 (4.4 percent). Not exactly a great recipe for winning hockey games in the NHL.
