‘Clutch’ Giroux finalizes three-year extension

Claude Giroux would have become a prized free agent come July 1. Not anymore.

The Flyers locked up their budding star, signing Giroux to a three-year, $11.25 million extension.

“He’s somebody we count on to play in every situation and he’s proving himself to be a clutch player,” Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said yesterday.

Giroux leads the Flyers in goals (7), points (14) and game-winners (3).
