Construction has started on a $2.6-million, seven-month project that will improve the parking lots at PATCO’s Collingswood and Ferry Avenue stations, officials announced.
All asphalt will be removed as well as portions of concrete curb and sidewalks, according to a news release. Lots will remain open in both stations throughout the duration of the projects. However in Collingswood, there will be fewer parking spaces available. After construction is complete, 80 new permanent spaces will be in.
Delaware River Port Authority Acting CEO John Hanson said neighbors will hear some construction noise “but as work progresses, PATCO customers will notice the improvements” and the lots will hold more vehicles.
Ferry Avenue is expected to have sufficient capacity, according to the news release, to handle the overflow.
This project is the last stage of the $9.8 million, multi-year effort to repave all parking lots and access roads at PATCO stations.
