Cops: White murdered over drug deal, not Facebook

Upper Darby police said on Thursday that the motive for Corey White’s death was likely a drug deal gone bad, not a Facebook posting.

White, 22, was shot Tuesday night in Southwest Philadelphia hours after his child’s mother and another man were held for allegedly conspiring to kill him on Facebook. Two men in a brown car pulled up next to White, exchanged words and then one man shot him before driving off.

Upper Darby police charged Alexander Solomon, 24, of Upper Darby, with carjacking the vehicle used in White’s murder, but would not say whether he is expected to charged in the murder.

“I can tell you based on our investigation that the shooting of Corey White was allegedly over a bad drug deal,” said Police Superintendent Mike Chitwood. “He tried to sell some guys some weed. The Facebook issue and [him being] the alleged getaway driver of a murder we had up here doesn’t look like a reality.”

Solomon is also charged with two other carjackings and theft of a vehicle in Upper Darby. He is being held on $5 million bail.
