Craving seafood? Try these two Center City hot spots

Chow down on crawdaddies at Rex 1516. Chow down on crawdaddies at Rex 1516.

Craving the shore already? Two Center City spots — both, eerily, with 1516 in their address — are bringing a taste of the sea to you, along with some summer-inspired cocktails.

Rex 1516

The Southern-tinged Rex 1516 is celebrating its first anniversary this weekend with a crawfish boil. That’s two pounds of crawfish, andouille sausage, corn and red bliss potatoes you can chow down on while the Eric Wortham Trio plays jazz on the outdoor patio. Narragansett pounders from the Providence, R.I., brewer are $10 for a bucket of four. Prefer your beers local? Accompany your crawdaddies with a Neshaminy Creek County Line IPA.

Oyster House

The seafood staple’s Buck-a-Shuck happy hour is still going strong, with $1 oysters, $3 drafts and $5 cocktails. Or gather a few friends and make a reservation for the Dump Dinner, which is what it sounds like: Your server will dump a mass of seafood — steamed clams, mussels and lobster, with sausage, kale and potatoes — onto your newspaper-covered table. Dig in, and wash it all down with one of the restaurant’s new cocktails, such as the Sunday Silence Julep (Rittenhouse rye, amaro, sugar and mint) or Mother’s Ruin Punch (gin, grapefruit, cinnamon tea-infused vermouth and sparkling wine).
