Crowdfunding campaign for Temple grad killed in bike crash surpasses goal


A crowdfunding campaign to return the remains of a Temple University grad killed in a bike crash over the weekend has more than doubled its fundraising goal.

The Gofundme page to return Vijay Mohan, who died at age 26 in a bike crash on Saturday night, has reached $16,475 as of Tuesday — twice its goal of $8,000.

The staff of the Philadelphia Public School Notebook, who worked with Mohan in his capacity as a Philly CAM employee,put togethera piece recalling him as “a godsend.”

Mohan previously worked for the Scribe Video Center and also worked with the Blackstar Film Festival

The campaign seeks to return Mohan’sremains to Kerala, India, where his mother resides, for burial. Having surpassed its goal, additional funds will go towards funeral and memorial costs, the page states.

Mohanwas struck by a Buick Roadmaster while biking near Girard and Ridge avenues just after midnight on May 9.

The driver remained at the scene of the accident.

Mohan was pronounced dead two hours later at Hahnemann University Hospital.

Mohan was born in India and grew up in Chicago before moving to Philadelphia.
