Philadelphia police and the District Attorney’s office are investigating allegations a daycare worker at Brightside Academy in Germantown physically abused a young boy.

Jessica Rasley, the mother of the alleged victim, told 6ABCthat when she arrived to pick up her son, Nasir, at Brightside Academy on Tuesday night, another mother told her that she saw a daycare worker slam Nasir to the floor and kick him in the stomach.

District Attorney spokesman Cameron Kline said the police are investigating. The employee has not been identified.

When reached by phone Friday, a spokeswoman for Brightside Academy said that the employee in question was a temporary one and has since been suspended.

“We’re fully complying with the DA’s office and the police with regards to this issue,” said Rebecca Crawford, a corporate representative for Brightside Academy.

According to news reports, Nasir had been at the daycare for only two months prior to the incident.
