Daylong event for MOVE bombing’s anniversary Wednesday

Thirty years ago today, on May 13, 1985, Philadelphia Police responding to the MOVE cult on Osage Avenue and 62nd Street dropped a bomb on the house. The explosion and subsequent fire killed 11 people, including five children, and burned 60 homes over several surrounding blocks.

Today, a rally in commemoration will be held at 11 a.m. at 62nd Street and Osage Avenue, followed by a march to 38th and Market Street, according to event information.

Food vendors will be set up from 2 to 7 p.m. and from 4 to 9 p.m. speakerswill address the MOVE bombing at the First District Plaza at 3801 Market St.
