DeSean Jackson’s impending free agency has been the subject of sport talk radio and podcasts for weeks now, and it appears the topic won’t be silenced until March 9, when free agency in the NFL officially begins.

But the 30-year-old former Bird made the rounds on ESPN Tuesday and he seemed pretty open to the idea of returning to the city that drafted him and made him a star.

“It definitely is a great story or ending, I guess you could say,” Jackson told Adam Schefter on his podcast.”Starting your career somewhere then going to a division rival team [and] having the possibility of maybe going back. You just kind of think about all of that when you start somewhere maybe you could finish it. There is just a lot of speculation of a lot of thoughts. It all sounds good, but you really never know until the final decision is made.”

The biggest factor in Jackson’s free agent decision, the wideout says, is that he wants to win. And he wants to play with a great quarterback. He seems to think Carson Wentz has the makings of one.

“Carson Wentz, he came in and had a heck of the year as a rookie. I don’t think a lot of people saw that coming,” Jackson said. “That was a gutsy call for an organization to believe in a young guy like that just coming out of college and give him that shot. He killed it.”

Jackson will be looking for a deal somewhere in the neighborhood of $7 million per season. The Eagles will need to make a few roster moves to shore up space to sign him if a reunion is actually in the works.

He will enter his 10th NFL season following a 1,005 yard campaign for the Redskins, his fifth 1,000 yard season.
