Eagles (and Redskins) fans will recall a pretty heated affair back in Week 3.
With DeSean Jackson returning to Lincoln Financial Field and the Eagles looking to remain unbeaten, the Birds completed their third straight comeback to win 37-34.
Jason Peters and Chris Baker were ejected from the game when a melee took place following a “cheap shot” on Eagles quarterback Nick Foles.
But Peters hardly recounts the incident as he prepares for the Week 16 battle with much on the line.
“Hadn’t even thought about it,” Peters said. “We’re going down there to win . . . Point blank. Whatever we’ve got to do to win, that’s what we’re going down to do.” Back up offensive lineman Andrew Gardner says it feels “like another season,” since the two teams faced off on Sept. 21, and the clubs have headed in different directions as the Eagles remain on life-support for a playoff spot and the 3-11 Redskins search for answers heading into 2015. Will there be extra emotion Saturday at 4:30 when these two teams tango for the second time? Chip Kelly doesn’t think so.
“It’s not like it’s more important in this game than it was in the last game or the game before that or the game before that,” the coach said of the importance of keeping emotions in check. “I mean, it’s something we always continue to strive and talk to our guys about not doing things that are going to hurt the football team.” Perhaps fueling the flame was LeSean McCoy posting an impression he did of his former teammate Jackson on Instagram earlier this week. Jackson scored an 81-yard touchdown against the Birds in the first meeting. The last thing the Eagles want to do is give Jackson extra motivation. “We don’t have anything against him, RG3, none of that stuff,” McCoy said. “We just want to win the game and get out of there.”
