Eagles cut Moten, bring in Williams for special teams

That was a quick tryout for Adrian Moten and the Eagles.

In the team’s ongoing effort to bolster their struggling kickoff coverages on special teams, the Eagles released Moten exactly one week after bringing him in to replace Brian Rolle. The Eagles added linebacker Jason Williams to take his roster spot.

Williams, 26, in his fourth season, has played in 28 games with Carolina (2010-12) and Dallas (2009-10). He has recorded 36 tackles on defense, 28 special teams tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He was released by Carolina after the preseason.

Moten talked enthusiastically last week about contributing on special teams.

“I ain’t a starter yet, so I got to make a lot of plays on special teams to keep my job,” Moten said at the time.

However, Moten tallied no tackles against Pittsburgh and missed one on a 44-yard kick return.
