The chances of Eagles running back Byron Marshall of making the 53-man roster stand at about 50-50.

The chances that he can nagivate South Philly without getting lost are much worse.

Granted, the fact that the Democratic National Convention is being held across the street from the Eagles home, the NovaCare complex on the other side of Pattison and Broad didn’t help his cause.

Nor did the hundreds of Bernie Sanders supporters clogging the subway system and Broad Street itself Monday afternoon, the first day of the convention.

Nonetheless, the poor guy couldn’t figure out where the hell to go.

“I was out walking for like two hours trying to find my way back to the hotel around all them barricades,” Marshall said Tuesday.

Marshall arrived in Philly Sunday and is staying at the team hotel. He’s also fighting against some other borderline offensive players like Kenjon Barnerwho are looking to forge journeymen careers in the NFL.

The Eagles were gracious when it came to figuring out how the squad can begin its training camp on time, and on siteght this week. And head coach Doug Pederson — enthused to be leading his first training camp as an NFL skipper, had nothing but good things to say about the DNC’s temporary acquisition of South Philly for political purposes.

“It was flawless,” Pederson said when camp started when asked about any difficulties commuting through Secret Service checkpoints to get to work.”[Eagles President] Don Smolenski did a great job organizing it. [Eagles VPof team security] Dom DiSandro did a great job with the Philly PD and the FBI and everybody that’s involved. The transition has been flawless. They’re working with us, we’re working with them, and it’s just part of it. You just roll with it.”

Just like Marshall did. In 108-degree heat index, he sure got a good work out. Don’t worry, he’s an Oregon/Chip Kelly guy and knows to keep hydrated.
