The Pro Football Hall of Fame will induct 69-year-old Claude Humphrey this year, alongside punter Ray Guy and five modern era players.

While Derrick Brooks and Walter Jones will enter the Hall in their first year of eligibility, and Michael Strahan, Andre Reed and Aeneas Williams waited relatively short periods of time to be enshrined in Canton, it’s been 32 years since Humphrey played his last snap.

The Eagles great was on the ballot for 20 years as a modern-era player but did not make the cut, despite being a finalist three times.

He is the first member of the Eagles’ 1980 Super Bowl team to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and was widely respected as one of the best pass-rushers of his generation. In 1979, his first season in Philly, he collected 10 sacks. The next year, he had 14.5.
