Eagles Notebook: Eric Allen, Jim Johnson honored

It’s an off-day for the Birds, but they officially announced today that former cornerback Eric Allen and former defensive coordinator Jim Johnson will both be inducted into the team’s Honor Roll at halftime of Sunday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Allen played with the Eagles from 1988-94 and recorded 34 interceptions, which is tied for most in franchise history (Brian Dawkins, Bill Bradley).

Johnson, of course, was the dean of defense. He led the Eagles’ defensive units from 1999 until his death from cancer in 2009. From 2000-08, his teams ranked second in the NFL in sacks (390), third-down efficiency (34 percent) and red-zone TD percentage (43.9 percent, and fourth in fewest points allowed per game (17.7).
