Eagles Notebook: Nnamdi Asomugha active

Nnamdi Asomugha, who tweaked his knee at Thursday’s practice, is active for today’s game against the New England Patriots. Since there are no starting lineup changes listed for the Eagles’ defense, it’s safe to assume he’ll start at cornerback opposite Asante Samuel.

As expected, Vince Young will start at quarterback for the injured Mike Vick (ribs) and Riley Cooper at receiver for the injured Jeremy Maclin (hamstring, shoulder). The rest of the Eagles’ inactives include CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, DE Brandon Graham, T King Dunlap, G Julian Vandervelde, DE Phillip Hunt.

Inactive for the Patriots are QB Ryan Mallett, S Patrick Chung, CB Devin McCourty, LB Dane Fletcher, LB Brandon Spikes, OL Dan Connolly, WR Chad Ochocinco.

The captains are Jason Kelce, Asante Samuel, Alex Henery. Former Eagle Hugh Douglas will serve as the team’s honorary alumni captain and he will be honored at halftime.

APPROACHING MILESTONE. Eagles running back LeSean McCoy needs just 60 yards to break Wilbert Montgomery‘s team record (1,078 in 1979) for most rushing yards through the first 11 games … Defensive end Jason Babin is 2.5 sacks shy of his career-high 10 set last season … wide receiver DeSean Jackson needs one more 150-yard receiving performance to tie Tommy McDonald (5) for the team record.
