With the trade deadline passing at 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, the Eagles — according to ESPN’s Ed Werder — were actually in on the Niners’ Torrey Smith.

In spite of Doug Pederson repeatedly claiming Philly was not looking to add to their lowly wide receiving corps, Werder said the Eagles were willing to offer a fifth round pick for the Niners’ speedy wide out, but San Francisco wanted a third round pick.

As of 3:45 p.m., the Eagles were unwilling to budge.

CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco, also via Twitter said that”Torrey Smith said there were trade negotiations, but if something happens in next 15 minutes he’d be shocked.”

The Eagles have both a third-round pick in the 2017 draft along with a fifth-round pick as well as two fourths.

Smith is a dynamic, game-changing wide receiver and could be a big boost to Philly’s young and 29th ranked receiving numbers. Ironically, it is Chip Kelly’s wide receivers the Eagles are having problems with, so they — of course — looked to a Chip Kelly wideout as a solution.

Smith, 27, was drafted by the Ravens.
