Eagles sign Derek Landri; Tony Romo in for cage fight?

First, the Eagles officially announced that they had re-signed defensive tackle Derek Landri to a one-year deal. Landri will wear No. 94.

To make room on the roster, the team placed Antonio Dixon on injured reserve. Dixon will have surgery and is out for the season after tearing his triceps.

With that bit of housekeeping out of the way, time for the good stuff …

After Tony Romo‘s epic choke-job last week, blowing a 24-point lead, made the Eagles’ disaster look almost forgivable (OK, not really), the wolves were out to feast on the Cowboys’ struggling QB.

Deion Sanders blasted Romo saying, “Statistically, he’s great but you can’t trust him” and he hinted that the organization may need to look elsewhere for a franchise quarterback.

That was the nicer commentary.

Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., Redskins tight end Chris Cooley called Romo’s meltdown “hilarious” and then threatened to fight him in a steel cage.

“I don’t know what kind of cage fighting skills he has,” Cooley told 106.7 The Fan in D.C. “I would probably try and incorporate my wrestling ability, like when I was in high school. I didn’t like to beat people fast. I like to embarrass ’em a little bit. Like, take a 24-point lead, and then just play with a little bit.”

Dallas has a bye this week before heading to New England in two weeks.
