The 3-0 Eagles started the year as the third least likely team to win the Super Bowl, handicapped at 200-1. After their Week 3 wolloping of the Steelers, the team is now given a 20-1 chance of winning Super Bowl 51. That’s a big change. Through three games Philly has allowed an average of nine points per game, the fewest in the league. Their 71 yards per game allowed on the ground is second only to the Packers and their six takeaways with zero giveaways is best in all of football. Offensively, the team’s total of 30.7 points scored per game is second behind just Atlanta (fresh off a 45-point performance Monday night). And as a product of those stats, the Eagles lead the NFL in point differential at plus-65. Another interesting tidbit about the Eagles’ impressive offense is their time of possession. The squad averages possession for 36:47 per game, most in the NFL. This is in stark contrast to last year’s team which had the worst mark in football under Chip Kelly. The Eagles are galloping full speed into a bye week and will have a long break before they are back in action in Detroit on Oct. 9.
“It was a start. It is early on,” Brandon Graham said following the 34-3 win.”Everybody is still getting acclimated with the system. But I am just happy we stayed together as a team.” Some other notes as provided by the Eagles following the Week 3 win:
