Eagles to interview Lovie Smith

It’s not the sexiest name, but it’s a solid name.

Lovie Smith will interview for the vacant head coaching job with the Eagles, according to the team. Smith was axed by the Chicago Bears last week, but the veteran coach sports an impressive resume.

Smith led the Bears to the 2006 Super Bowl, while posting an 81-63 record in nine seasons in Chicago. More importantly, as a former defensive coordinator under Tony Dungy, he brings a strong presence on that side of the ball.

Smith’s interview is a bit out of character for owner Jeffrey Lurie, who previously stated he was looking for someone with outstanding leadership skills and a great offensive mind. Stay tuned.
