Eighteen-year-old suspect arrested in SEPTA concourse shooting

Police have arrested an 18-year-old for allegedly shooting a man during a robbery in a SEPTA subway concourse.

Shawn Walker, of the 500 block of Anchor Street, will face robbery, aggravated assault and related charges for incident last Sunday on the Broad Street Line.

Walker is accused of pointing a gun at a man at the North Philadelphia station and telling him to “give it up.” When the victim turned and tried to run towards the subway platform, Walker allegedly shot him in the hip. As the victim lay on the ground, Walker allegedly demanded his money, taking $280 in cash and credit cards before he fled.

Police had identified Walker this morning at a press conference. Authorities took him into custody on the 5200 block of Duffield Street.
