Elderly man killed in Kensington blaze

An elderly man was killed and a firefighter injured during an early morning fire in Kensington, officials said.

The blaze broke out shortly after midnight at 1810 N. Front Street in a three-story rowhouse. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 12:13 a.m. and got the fire under control at 12:35 a.m., according to Capt. Jeff Thompson.

Firefighters found an elderly man dead on the second floor. Officials did not release the man’s name or age, but he is 70 years of age, according to published reports. A firefighter suffered minor burns to his lower left leg, but was treated and released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
