Police are still looking for a teenage robbery suspect who escaped from the custody while handcuffed in West Philadelphia Wednesday evening.

Hasheem Singletary, 16, was in the custody of PTS Transportation, private contractors who were hired to transport him from the Florida to Philadelphia, police said.

He was last seen in the area of 56th and Osage where he jumped out of a Kia operated by the contractors.

Singletary is a suspect in three gunpoint robberies in Philadelphia.

He fled to Tennessee, and then to Florida where he was arrested in a stolen car, said Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detective Division.

The contractors flew Singletary from Florida to JFK Airport in New York, and then from New York to Philadelphia. He was being driven to a police station at 55th and Pine for processing.

He is from the 3900 block of Wallace Street, but is known to hang around 46th and Market.

Walker said that because Singletary is fairly young, small and flexible, he may have been able to slip his hands from the handcuffs.

Anyone with information is urged to call Philadelphia police.
