FBI: Villanova Man Allegedly Bribed City Official

A Villanova man has been indicted for attempting to bribe a city official.

Daniel Apokorin, 61, and several other men allegedly presented $5,000 in cash to a city official in an attempt to expedite the purchase of a property on the 7100 block of James Street in Tacony.

The official reported the bribery attempt, leading to a joint investigation by the Philadelphia Office of the Inspector General and the FBI.

During the investigation, Apokorin and the other men allegedly gave an additional $5,000 to an undercover federal agent posing as a city official.

“We should celebrate these honest public servants for standing up against corruption,” said Inspector General Amy Kurland.

“When city employees refuse to sell their integrity, they cast light on a dying stereotype. Most city employees are honest and hard-working. They want to earn only what they deserve.”
