Property-owners aren’t the only people who can receive help to cover storm-related damages, FEMA announced yesterday. Philadelphia renters who suffered damage or loss due to Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee may also be eligible for federal disaster assistance.
Renters who were displaced from their homes could qualify for a FEMA grant to help pay temporary housing rent for up to 30 days.
FEMA also provides grants to renters for disaster-related losses or damage to necessary personal properties, such as furnishings or appliances, tools and equipment needed for work, vehicles and disaster-related moving and storing and medical and dental expenses.
If renters have losses not covered by insurance or
FEMA, they may be eligible for low-interest disaster loans of up to $40,000 from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
