A fire broke out at an ambulance station in Ardmore early Friday.

The blaze at the station house for Volunteer Medical Services Corps of Lower Merion reached two alarms and damaged all but one ambulance, 6ABC Action News reported.

The building’s smoke alarm went off about 2:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames showing from the rear of one ambulance, and the fire quickly spread from there.

Mutual-aid agreements have been set up with surrounding ambulance squads to provide coverage until Volunteer Medical Services Corps of Lower Merion can get in some rental vehicles.

The cause of the fire, which is not being treated as suspicious, remains under investigation.
