Five people shot Wednesday in Philly

Gunfire left five people wounded Wednesday in separate shootings across Philadelphia, according to authorities.

Police said a 21-year-old man was shot twice in the chest and once in the right arm and left leg just before 3:45 p.m. near the corner of Paul Street and Torresdale Avenue in Frankford.

He showed up at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where he was listed in critical condition. Investigators said a suspect was apprehended, but no further information was released.

In Tacony, an 18-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot in the left thigh just after noon on the 7200 block of Jackson Street, police said. Officers recovered a gun at the scene, and the victim is expected to physically recover.

Just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, a shooting inside the second-floor bedroom of a house on the 2800 block of Boudinot Street in Kensington left a 30-year-old man with a wound to his left thigh. He was later listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital, authorities said.

Police said a 66-year-old man was struck in the leg when someone opened fire at around 6 a.m. Wednesday on the 3900 block of M Street in Juniata. Medics took the man to Temple University Hospital, and he is expected to survive.

A gun was found at the scene, but no arrests were made, investigators said.

Earlier, at around 3 a.m., a 40-year-old man was shot in the face on the 5100 block of Marion Street in Germantown, according to authorities.

Officers rushed him to Einstein Medical Center, where he was in “critical but stable” condition, police said.

Police are also investigating a stabbing that left a woman fighting for her life.

Authorities said the 27-year-old victim was taken to the hospital at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday after being stabbed in the back on the 6000 block of Cedarhurst Street in Southwest Philadelphia. She was listed in critical condition at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

No arrests have been made, and investigators did not find a weapon.

On Tuesday, just after 11:45 p.m., officers were called to the 3000 block of A Street in Kensington, where they found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right thigh. His injuries were not expected to be life-threatening, police said.

Detectives are also looking into a suspected arson that was reported at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday on the 200 block of E. Wellens Street in Olney.

Emergency crews who arrived on the scene found flames coming from a vehicle. No one was injured in the incident, and it was declared an arson by the fire marshal’s office, authorities said.
