Flyers can’t solve Lundqvist, Rangers

The Flyers just can’t beat those blue shirts.

Make it six consecutive wins for the Rangers over the Flyers following yesterday’s 5-2 defeat. New York has outscored the Orange and Black 24-8 during the losing streak, including the 3-2 loss at Citizens Bank Park.

Henrik Lundqvist was the star once again, stopping 21 shots and earning his fourth straight win. Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds were the only ones able to solve the Rangers goaltender.

Simmonds now has a career-high 17 goals this season, his first in South Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, Ilya Bryzgalov made 33 saves for the Flyers and recorded his first loss in regulation since Jan. 14. The Rangers outshot the Flyers 38-23 while out-hitting them 30-24. Tim Sestito was involved in three fights — vs. Stu Bickel, vs. Brandon Dubinsky, vs. Brandon Purst — and was given an automatic game misconduct.

The Flyers have dropped three of their last four games, but still hold the No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference standings. The Rangers are tops with 33 wins and 71 points.
