The list of NFL free agent quarterbacks tied to the Jets via rumor are an embarrassment of riches.

Reports have suggested that mediocre signal callers like Josh McCown and Jay Cutler have been the objects of Jets’ affection since free agency began a few weeks ago and now former Eagles and Chiefs backup Chase Daniel has entered the fray.

According to reports, Daniel — who was cut by Philly as they made room to sign big name wideoutsTorrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery, and also replaced in a backup role by Nick Foles —is meeting with New York Monday as per Adam Schefter.

The 30-year-old asked for his release last week and apparently said he thought he was a starting quarterback and wanted a starting gig.

The Jets’ starting gig is wide open and perhaps Daniel’s best chance to lead an NFL squad. He reportedly also met with New Orleans this weekend but he would be serving as Drew Brees’ backup with the Saints.
