Looking for some fun and unique things to do in and around Philly this weekend? We’ve got you covered.

Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers at theUptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center

Local dance group, Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers will be heading to West Chester this weekend for a debut evening-length performance as part of their first domestic tour since the pandemic. Known for their deeply spiritual performances, this weekend’s show will follow suit with unique showcases of strength and creativity, but with never-before-seen choreography.

As the release states, the company’s performance will include acclaimed repertoire, including ‘Moon’ (1994), a signature solo work, ‘Chi’ (2002), a piece inspired by the ancient art forms of tai chi and calligraphy, ‘Santuario’ (2017), described as “stunning…profoundly moving” (HuffPost), and a preview of the company’s latest work, ‘Fish & Girl’. This dynamic concert weaves together older pieces from KYL/D’s beginning, with relevant contemporary works that reflect on social consciousness around the themes of climate change, gun violence, and the LGBTQIA2S+ community. The evening will culminate with a Q&A, allowing the audience and artists to exchange dialogue, questions, ideas, and connections made when viewing and performing the work.

The show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 and tickets (adults $32 and kids under 12 $27) are on sale online.
