Sisterly Love Citywide Food Fair

The Sisterly Love Food Fair is back for another pop-up, and this time it’s right in time for Mother’s Day. Philadelphians can head to East Market for the opportunity to shop. Guests who head to the Food Fair this Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. can look through a variety of women-owned businesses’ products including Charcuterie Chic, The Chai Bar, Maker Missya, High Street Hospitality, and more. The event will also feature live music, a Lil’ Pop Shop food truck and beer tastings at Iron Hill Brewery. Additionally while in East Market, Philadelphians can also take their moms for brunch at East Market’s The Wayward and Iron Hill Brewery. The Wayward is serving their brunch indoors and outdoors on their patio on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m. while Iron Hill Brewery is seating guests from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Sofitel Philadelphia Family Brunch

Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square is offering Philadelphians a Mother’s Day Family Style Brunch in their Liberte Lounge with a selection of appetizers, decadent entrees and the trimmings, a variety of desserts and even a Bloody Mary bar.  The release states, for $75 per person (plus tax/gratuity), each diner will enjoy appetizers (shrimp cocktail, watermelon salad with feta and heirloom tomato, a sliced fruit display, caesar salad, artisan charcuterie and cheese board with fig jam), entree (pan seared cod, rock shrimp, brown butter-citrus emulsion, smoked braised spring lamb shank, prime rib of beef, roasted shallot mashed potatoes and baby heirloom vegetables, herb butter), and dessert (chocolate raspberry ganache cake, white chocolate and blueberry verrine, coconut curd and pistachio tart, lemon poppy financier, strawberry and rose meringues), plus a Bloody Mary bar (filled with assorted condiments, variety of juices, specialty purees and mixes to create different combinations). Reservations are now available on OpenTable and children under 12 are half price.

Museum of the American Revolution

The Museum of the American Revolution is hosting both in-person and virtual events for Mother’s Day weekend. According to a release, visitors can celebrate inspiring, trailblazing women this weekend from Friday, May 7 to  Monday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. At the museum and online, discover the diverse women who played vital, often unsung roles on the home front and with armies on campaign during the Revolutionary War, make your own Mother’s Day card at home inspired by the German art of paper-cutting, and more. On Mother’s Day, take home a free carnation courtesy of the museum to wish a happy Mother’s Day to the revolutionary woman in your life.

The Clay Studio

If you’re looking to find that last-minute Mother’s Day gift, or if you want to take the special lady in your life for a shopping spree, The Clay Studio has just what you need. On Friday, May 7 from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., shoppers can sort different categories: May 7 will be the Annual Pottery sale featuring artist donations and student work and May 8 will be the Associate and Resident Artist’s Sale. All proceeds from this outdoor event will go to support The Clay Studio’s, Equipment Fund.

Jet Wine Bar

For a special Mother’s Day brunch, wine-lovers can head to South Street’s own “global vineyard,” Jet Wine Bar. The Mother’s Day brunch will kick off May 9 at 11 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. The festivities will include sparkling wine and craft cocktails, and a specialty menu served a la carte helmed by Celebrity Chef and Chopped Champion Gregory Headen. Headen received a two-bell review from acclaimed food critic Craig LaBan, and most recently, joined Starr Restaurants first as Chef at Jones for two years and then The Dandelion in Rittenhouse. The menu includes a brunch burger, funnel cake french toast, frittata, baby kale salad and coffee cake along with a variety of champagne and wine that Philadelphians can also indulge in with their special lady.

Push Pops with a Purpose

There are plenty of opportunities to treat yourself this weekend, but why not have some fun while equally doing some good? Kalaya Chef/Owner Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon is teaming up with Chef Janine Bruno of Homemade by Bruno for a collaboration which will have both Kalaya and Kalaya Thai Market offer gelato push-pops utilizing Thai ingredients, with the new treats being introduced on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9. According to a release, the pops will be available to-go at Kalaya Thai Market, and for dessert at Kalaya. The two flavors are a Chili Gelato Pop — which includes Thai chilies, vanilla extract and fior de latte gelato; and a Tamarind Chili Sorbetto Pop — featuring pure tamarind and Thai chilies. Each push-pop costs $6, and $1 from every sale will benefit AnaOno from Dana Donofree, a Philadelphia company that produces mastectomy bras.
