Germantown Man Shot in Head

A man is in extremely critical condition after an early Saturday morning shooting in Germantown.

Officers patrolling the area of Wister and Wakefield streets heard gunshots coming from the 100 block of E.
Garfield Street around 1:50 a.m.

There, they found a man entering a silver GMC
Yukon. Upon seeing the police, the man fled westbound on
Garfield towards Germantown Avenue on foot, leaving the vehicle behind with the keys in the ignition and the engine running.

As the
officers approached the Yukon, they found a man sitting nearby in a blue Pontiac Grand Prix with multiple gunshots
wound to head.

He was taken to Einstein in extremely critical
condition.

The Yukon is believed to be a rental car and investigators are in the process of tracing it back to its renter.
