Graphic footage emerges of Temple student’s killing by Miami police

A Temple student studying criminal justice was reportedly shot to death by a Miami police officer after she allegedly plowed into the officer with her car.

Cariann Denise Hithon, 22, was a political science student at Temple University who was shot fatally by a Miami police officer on Oct. 5, as she was celebrating her 22nd birthday in South Beach.

Police said Hithon was driving erratically around 6:15 p.m. in a black BMW when she crashed near 12th and Ocean Drive, according to the Miami New Times, before reportedly running a red light, hitting a car on Lincoln Road, and again accelerating and hitting an officer, before another officer fired in the driver’s window. She hit the officer hard enough he “was thrown and lost consciousness,” police said.

Graphic Instagram footage captured the moments before Hithon was shot. The vehicle can be seen slowly moving through a crowd of people, and someone is heard shouting, “She drunk as s—!” Officers can be seen approaching the car, when it suddenly lurches forward, directly striking one officer, then continuing accelerating before shots ring out.
