Halloween fete ends with bang

A Halloween party near Temple University’s campus in North Philadelphia took a violent turn early yesterday morning when one man pulled a gun and shot another during a fight, police said.

Richard Dodds, 21, of Audobon, Montgomery County, allegedly shot a 20-year-old man with whom he got into an argument with inside a house in the 2100 block of North 17th Street, police said. When the argument spilled into a fight in front of the row home, Dodds allegedly pulled a handgun that he reportedly has a permit to carry.

Neither Dodds nor the victim are Temple students, according to a police source, though one news website reported last night that the house party was hosted by Temple students. ABC6 reported that Dodds was a guest at the Halloween party.

When police arrived at the house shortly after the 2 a.m. shooting, officers allegedly found Dodds outside still holding the handgun.
