Hallucinatory art experiences at Fringe Festival

A Center City bar has turned into a psychedelic dinner-theater experience as part of the Philly Fringe Festival this week.

On Wednesday night, the upstairs of Franky Bradley’s Bar in Center City was transformed by dancers Teddy Fatscher, Tommy Schimmel, Dave Morreale, Misha King, Jake Van Horn and William Burden, who comprise the group Bradley’s Bucks, who urged the audience to “drink, dine and deviate around dance.”

Their event, “Insert Thoughts Here” was part of the 2017 Philadelphia Fringe Arts Festival which takes place from Sept. 7 through Sept. 24.

Audience members were served drinks and a dinner – all part of the immersive performance from “Bradley’s Bucks.”

“The Bucks search for inspiration through music, lighting, stage design, and prop work to develop powerful, masculine movement,” the group says on their website. “One of the Bucks’ main objectives is to always leave their audience wondering what they will develop next.”

The acts featured various forms of dance, including breakdance, aerial dance, hip hop and lyrical dance which were meant to recreate both the euphoric and non-euphoric aspects of hallucination.

The show used colored lights, dance, acting, and music to stimulate all of the audience’s senses to allow audience members not only watch but to feel the theme of “hallucination.”

Bradley’s Bucks will perform again on Sept. 21 at Franky Bradley’s at 8 pm. Tickets can be found on FringeArts.com.
