Harvey, Mets too much for Phillies

New York Mets v Philadelphia Phillies John Lannan fell to 0-2 on the sea on after Sunday’s loss.

The Matt Harvey Show came to town and it didn’t disappoint.

Harvey, a rising star hurler for the Mets, allowed just two hits in six innings while striking out six batters in an 8-0 win Sunday over the Phillies. Harvey threw four perfect frames before a 20-minute rain delay ended his day prematurely.

The Phils dropped two out of three to the Mets this past weekend. John Lannan (0-2, 5.84 ERA) took the loss for Philadelphia. He surrendered six runs on eight hits in five innings. The Phils manufactured only four hits total, highlighted by Chase Utley’s double off Harvey. The team travels to San Diego for a 10-game road trip.

David Wright powered the Mets going 4-for-5 with two doubles and a home run. His ninth-inning blast off Jake Diekman was his 12th of the season. Wright is hitting .405 with 14 extra-base hits in his last 17 games.

The Phillies’ shaky bullpen gave up two runs in four innings, including a scoreless frame from J.C. Ramirez. Ben Revere’s error, a controversial call in the top of the fifth, led to three runs for the Mets.
