The Eagles have four losses this season. All four were by one touchdown or less. In all four games, the Eagles had the ball, down by a touchdown or less, and had a chance to drive the field and score to win.

Sunday, in their 24-15 victory against the Falcons, the Eagles were down in the fourth — by two — but were able to seize the lead and add some cushion. They were also able to keep the Atlanta high-powered offense from making it a game again.

Finally, the Eagles played smart and with maturity at the end of a contest.

“We donated a couple games to some NFL team funds the last couple of weeks,” Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews said,”so we have to start finishing some of these games. Today we were able to do that, but there were still a few times where we were trying to hand it off, and I was like, ‘No. We have to finish these games, clean off the rope and finish some of these teams off.’ That is something we have to continue to work on.”

In previous weeks, late in the fourth quarter with the game on the like, Philly could be seen fumbling, coming up shorton fourth down, throwing an interception or making an extremely questionable decision to punt.

No such misfortune occurred at the end of the Week 10 victory.

“Guys were eager at the opportunity,” tight end Zach Ertz said.”We were excited to be in that situation again because we knew we were going to attack it with the same mentality that we’ve had the past three or four weeks, but this time we knew that we were going to get it done, and we just drove down and scored.”

Based on how things have gone thus far, there’s little doubt there will be a good mix of close games as the Eagles prep for the last seven games of their schedule — against five teams with winning records (plus the dangerous Packers and Bengals).

“It’s something we are going to build on,” Carson Wentz said.”Obviously, the other four losses we had a chance every game. Whether it was a minute left, three minutes left, whatever, we had a chance. So it was good to kind of get over that hump so to speak. And like I said, we are going to build on it.”
