His testimony won’t count

Accused cop killer Eric Floyd got his day on the stand yesterday and denied any involvement in the bank robbery that led to the 2008 death of Police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski.

Floyd, who testified wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, told jurors he was asleep when the alleged robbery took place. He also denied making a statement to police admitting his involvement and other alleged crimes.

After several minutes of cross-examination, a sullen Floyd refused to answer any more questions and his testimony was stricken by Common Pleas Judge Renee Cardwell Hughes.

Floyd is charged with first-degree murder, along with Levon Warner, in Liczbinski’s death. If convicted, both men could face the death penalty. The triggerman, Howard Cain, was killed later that day by police.
