‘Inconsistencies’ in alleged cab assault

Authorities are still investigating a report of a 14-year-old girl sexually assaulted by a cab driver Tuesday night.

The girl was traveling from her grandmother’s home on North Sydenham Street in North Philadelphia around 10 p.m. to her mother’s house on East Luzerne Street in Juniata Park when the cabbie allegedly made a couple detours before stopping on a dark street and assaulting the girl, according to police.

The girl claims that after the assault the cab driver took her to her destination. Police are still trying to determine whether the driver drove a licensed cab or was a “hack.”

McFadden said the attacker did not display a weapon. The girl did not suffer any injuries and was treated and released from St. Christopher’s Hospital. She has been cooperating with police, McFadden said.

“We’re tracking some leads down. We’re just trying to get the story straight,” McFadden said. “There’s certain inconsistencies that we have to figure out.”
